At least 17 Houthi rebels have been killed in Saudi-led coalition airstrikes in eastern Yemen, according to a pro-government commander on Monday.
Ahmed al-Musaabi said on Facebook that coalition warplanes had pounded Houthi positions in Shabwah province over the past 24 hours.
Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have been launching a massive air campaign since 2015 against Houthi rebels, who overran much of the country, including the capital Sanaa in 2014.
According to UN officials, more than 10,000 people have been killed in the war, while more than 11 percent of the country’s population has been displaced as a direct result of the conflict.
