Hamas decries Israeli attack on Gaza
Israel says the attack was in response to a bomb attack near Gaza border

GAZA CITY, Palestine
Palestinian group Hamas on Sunday condemned an Israeli airstrike that targeted a group position in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
“The Israeli escalation…is a step to mix cards and panic people,” Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhum said in a statement.
Israeli forces struck a Hamas position in eastern Gaza Strip early Sunday, with the military saying the attack was in response to a bomb attack near a security fence on Gaza border.
A Palestinian security source said the attack targeted an empty agricultural land on the eastern border of Gaza.
No casualties were reported.
Barhum said the Israeli attack was an attempt to fail a major Palestinian rally to break the decade-long Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.
These Israeli attempts “will fail”, the spokesman stressed.
Israel has imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007 when Hamas seized control of the seaside enclave.
