Four government troops were killed in a landmine explosion in central Yemen on Wednesday, according to pro-government forces.

The landmine planted by Houthi rebels exploded at a group of soldiers in al-Qurashia district in the central Al-Bayda province, the media center of pro-government forces said in a statement.

Three other soldiers were injured in the blast.

Yemen fell into civil war in 2014 when Houthi rebels overran much of the country, forcing the internationally recognized government to set up an interim capital in the coastal city of Aden.

In 2015, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies began a devastating air campaign aimed at rolling back Houthi military gains in Yemen.
