ANKARA

The PYD/PKK terrorist organization and its supporters are so desperate in their attempts to make black propaganda that they are using random images from websites, it was revealed Wednesday.

The terrorist organization and its supporters continued to post old photographs on social media as if they were recently shot in Syria’s Afrin.

But their "Afrin lies" on social media were now coming to a saturation point, as they continue to use old as new in their propaganda.

Two more photographs, which were supposedly taken during the ongoing operation in Afrin, turned out to be old pictures that were taken during different incidents in the past.

Another photo was found to have been taken from a truck company’s website.

One picture shared on Twitter claimed "kids are being targeted by Turkish army"; however, it turned out the picture was taken from a post on Jan.1, 2017, during a Russian airstrike in Syria.

Another photo shared on social media with the allegation "Olive Branch Operation targets civilians” shows an injured mom and two children. This picture is actually from an Assad regime airstrike in Aleppo, Syria, taken on Dec. 16, 2013.

Another truck picture shared on social media claimed “The YPG killed lots of Turkish soldiers and their bodies will be delivered with truck trailer”; however, the picture is from a truck company’s website.

All online claims false

Black propaganda and perception management by PYD/PKK members and their supporters were continuing online against the Turkish military and its Operation Olive Branch in Afrin. The PKK terror group has given instructions to its supporters to share fake images and news online in an attempt to overshadow Turkey's ongoing Afrin operation in Syria.

In the last three days, 10 other pictures shared by pro-PYD/PKK accounts on social media supposedly about Afrin operation turned out to be old photographs that were taken during different incidents in the past.

All the claims were false and the pictures were actually captured even before the Operation Olive Branch began.

Some accounts posting such fake news and images were shut down after Anadolu Agency did a story on them.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the aim of the Afrin operation is to establish security and stability along Turkish borders and the region, and protect the Syrian people from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.

The military has said the operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on international law, UN Security Council’s decisions, self-defense rights under the UN charter and respect for Syria's territorial integrity.

It has also said that only terrorist targets are being destroyed and "utmost importance" is being given to not harm any civilians.

The PYD/PKK is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK terrorist group, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
