The Turkish army has established new bases in northern Iraqi regions cleared of PKK terrorists.
Security sources, who asked not to be named for security reasons, told Anadolu Agency on Thursday that Turkish commandos' air-supported operation against PKK camps in Iraq -- launched on March 10 -- is ongoing.
The same sources said Turkish security forces have established base areas Hakurk and Kani Rash regions.
Construction of roads leading to the base areas is also ongoing.
Three base areas are now connected to one another and to Turkey.
The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and has been responsible for the death of nearly 40,000 people.
