At least two civilians were killed on Friday when a bomb tore through a crowded market in Baghdad, according to a local police officer.
“An explosive device was detonated this afternoon at a fish market in Baghdad’s Al-Madaen district, killing two civilian passersby and injuring three others,” Police Captain Nazhan al-Khader told Anadolu Agency.
“The large explosion also damaged a number of shops," al-Khader said without providing further details.
While no group has claimed responsibly for the blast, the authorities typically blame such attacks on the Daesh terrorist group, which in mid-2014 captured large areas of northern and western Iraq.
