DAMASCUS
A Syrian government helicopter dropped barrel bombs on the Yarmouk refugee camp outside the capital Damascus, killing nine and wounding dozens of others, activists said.
The Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) reported that a regime helicopter carried out an air strike on the camp. The report also said hundreds of civilians seeking refuge in the camp fled towards government check points.
The Yarmouk refugee camp has been the scene of fierce fighting between government forces and the opposition since the civil war began in 2011.
Up to 20,000 Palestinians, many of them lacking badly-needed food and medicine, reportedly remain under siege inside the camp.
More than 40 Palestinians have reportedly starved to death inside the camp, which has remained under siege by regime forces and pro-regime militias since last September, according to the Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria.
