The Turkish foreign minister and the Iranian national security chief have discussed Iran's nuclear program during their latest meeting in capital Ankara.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with the head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, who is also the country's top nuclear negotiator, at his official residence on Monday.
The meeting, held at the request of the Iranian party, mainly focused on Iran's nuclear program within the framework of the resolution adopted at last week's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting in Vienna, diplomatic sources said.
During today's gathering, Davutoglu reiterated the necessity to resolve the nuclear conflict with Iran through diplomacy and expressed the importance of dialogue, sources said.
Developments in Syria were also on the agenda of the Davutoglu-Jalili meeting, officials added.
Last week, IAEA has adopted a resolution urging Iran to cooperate with the Agency, to grant inspectors access to nuclear facilities, to stop its uranium enrichment program and to maintain dialogue with the P5+1.
IAEA's resolution was proposed by the United States, China, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Thirty-one out of 35 member states voted in favour of the resolution, one voted against and three abstained.
