BAGHDAD
Two Iraqi civilians were killed and 16 others were injured on Sunday in two blasts in the northern Iraqi provinces of Saladin and Kirkuk.
"One civilian was killed and ten others were injured in a twin bombing in central Tuz Khormato," said the town administrator Shalal Abdul.
He added that an explosive charge had initially gone off outside a house in the town followed by a car bombing.
Abdul said policemen had cordoned off the site and took the injured to the hospital.
An administrative division of Saladin, Tuz Khormato is one of the most volatile areas in northern Iraq.
The town is the site of repeated car bombings and explosions, claiming scores of lives.
Meanwhile, police said a booby-trapped car exploded in southeastern Kirkuk, killing a civilian and injuring six others.
Iraq has been the scene of rising violence over the past months with car bombings and assassinations killing hundreds of people.
Most attacks go unclaimed, but authorities usually point the finger at al-Qaeda-linked groups.
