HATAY, Turkey

At least six people, including three children, were killed Monday in air attacks led by Syrian regime troops in the Turkmen town of Bayirbucak in the northern Latakia province in Western Syria bordering Turkey, say opposition activists.

According to local security officials, Syrian military aircraft launched large scale air operations on the Turkmen residential town of Bayirbucak, and among the fatalities were two women and three children.

The towns of Nusaybin, Gebeli and Cumeren, located at the border with Turkey, were also affected by the attack.

The assault also wounded many civilians, all of whom were transferred to nearby hospitals.

The regime attacks continue along the Syria-Turkey border.

Syria has been plagued by a civil war for almost four years. Tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced, both internally and externally.
