ANBAR, Iraq
Iraqi security forces have killed 37 Daesh militants Saturday in clashes that took place in the city of al-Karma in the western province of Anbar, an army source said.
Major General Mohamed al-Delimi told The Anadolu Agency that the Iraqi forces were advancing toward central al-Karma to capture it from Daesh.
Security forces killed at least 37 Daesh militants, including four suicide bombers, according to al-Delimi.
Security forces also managed to defuse 175 improvised explosive devices between the al-Hareriyat area and central al-Karma, al-Delimi said.
Meanwhile, an Iraqi officer who talked to The Anadolu Agency on the condition of anonymity said that Daesh had managed to seize al-Karma’s train station Saturday in the southern part of the city after two days of clashes.
Daesh used eight explosives-laden vehicles in the attack, which killed and wounded numerous Iraqi army troops, the officer added.
