Fenerbahce football player Robin van Persie said Monday that he had not suffered a serious eye injury in a Turkish league game Sunday.

In the first half of Sunday's match with Akhisar, the Dutch striker received a hard blow to the eye, which started bleeding.

"I have a little tear in my eyelid and after tests in the hospital this morning, I can say that my eye itself is undamaged, so all good," he wrote on social media.

Thanking “all the medical staff who looked after me", van Persie wrote:

"These things happen in football. Nevertheless, I am very happy with the team result and win. Now focusing on the next game, the derby.”

Fenerbahce won the away game 3-1. Van Persie had scored the opening goal.

They face Istanbul rivals Galatasaray on Sunday Nov. 20.
