An Italian cyclist racing for the Southeast-Venezuela team, based in Italy, won the fifth stage of the 52nd Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey on Thursday.

Jakub Mareczko won the 189.3-km-long Alanya-Kemer stage, in the southern Antalya province, in 4 hours, 20 minutes and 28 seconds, beating 104 other cyclists.

German Andre Greipel from Lotto Soudal came in second while Mareczko's teammate, Italian rider Manuel Belletti, came in third.

The sixth stage of the tour will take place Friday -- a 116.9 km-long route between the towns of Kumluca and Elmali in Antalya.

A total of 128 cyclists from 16 teams are competing in the eight-stage tour, covering 1,265.7 kilometers.

Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation, the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey started in 1963 as the Marmara Tour and gained an international status for the first time in 1965.
