MUGLA, Turkey

The Turkish coastguard rescued 11 undocumented migrants late Thursday in waters off the country’s west coast.

Coastguard sources told Anadolu Agency they saved the migrants as they attempted to reach Greece.

The coastguard spotted their boat hitting some rocks and taking on water near the small island of Kara Ada on the Aegean Turkish coast near the tourist hotspot of Bodrum.

The migrants were taken to the Bodrum Coast Guard Command.

Medical checks were performed on some of the migrants, and the sources said they will be sent to the immigration authority in Mugla province.
