Four people have been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s car-bomb attack in Istanbul that killed 11 people and injured 36 others, police said.

The 8.40 a.m. local time (0540GMT) attack in the Beyazit district targeted a police bus, killing seven policemen and four civilians.

Investigators later revealed that a rental car was used in the attack and said they had discovered where it was rented from. Prosecutors said a remote control may have been used to trigger the blast and iron shots could have been packed around the bomb to cause maximum damage.

Police are examining surveillance footage to identify the person who parked the car in Sehzadebasi Street.

Istanbul chief public prosecutor Hadi Salihoglu, deputies Irfan Fidan and Onder Yaman and four other public prosecutors have examined the blast scene.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
