5 PKK terrorists killed in southeast Turkey clash

HAKKARI, Turkey 

Five PKK terrorists were killed during a gunfight with security forces in southeastern Hakkari province Wednesday, according to the regional governor’s office.

In a statement, the office said the clash took place in Serabatin area in Semdinli district of the province.

There were four women among the five killed.

A machine gun, rocket launcher RPG-11 and six Kalashnikovs were also seized, it said.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
