Turkish army shells several positions in southeastern Hakkari province

Ankara
ANKARA
Five PKK terrorists were killed in a military operation Friday in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province, security sources told Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish army shelled several areas in the province’s Semdinli district, said the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media.
Turkish jets have been carrying out strikes on PKK positions in Turkey and northern Iraq since the group -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, more than 600 security personnel and many civilians, including women and children, have been martyred, and around 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
