The anti-terror police detained Friday 24 foreign nationals, including a Syrian suspected of providing explosives and ammunition to Daesh terrorists, a security source said.

The Syrian national identified as Azzov K. was detained along with the others during a police raid in Kucukcekmece district of Istanbul, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

The operation followed intelligence that Daesh members were plotting to carry out one or more terrorist attacks across the city, the source added.

Nine of the suspects are reportedly senior members, while 15 others were seeking to travel to areas of conflict from Turkey.

The police also seized several documents and digital materials from the suspects.
