Over 2,400 undocumented migrants held in Turkey

ANKARA 

Turkish forces rounded up more than 2,200 undocumented migrants across the country, the military said on Sunday.

In a statement, Turkish General Staff said a border unit of Land Forces Command held 2,179 undocumented migrants on Saturday when they attempted to cross into Turkey from Syria.

A total of 116 migrants were also found attempted to cross into Turkey from Greece, it said.

In addition, 148 others were caught when they were attempting to illegally cross into Syria, Iran, Greece and Bulgaria borders.
