Turkish fighter jets hit more targets of the PKK terrorist organization in southeastern Turkey and in northern Iraq on Wednesday, the military said in a statement Thursday.
The Turkish Armed Forces hit the Hakurk and Avasin regions of northern Iraq between 10:00 and 14:47 a.m. (0700-1147GMT), and the southeastern Semdinli district of Turkey’s Hakkari province between 10:02 and 14:47 p.m. (07:02-11:47GMT) on Wednesday.
The fighter jets destroyed six PKK targets in Hakurk and Avasin and two in Semdinli, including shelters, hideouts, and ammunition dumps, according to the statement.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 7,700 PKK terrorists neutralized in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
