13 PKK terrorists killed in SE operations
Turkish military says one soldier martyred, one injured in separate operation in Mus province
ANKARA
Thirteen PKK terrorists have been killed in security operations in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari, Mardin and Sirnak provinces, the military said Wednesday.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said 10 PKK terrorists were killed in Cukurca district, Hakkari province, on Tuesday.
Another operation in Nusaybin, Mardin province, saw PKK death on Tuesday and two terrorists were also killed in Sirnak province. The deaths in Nusaybin and Sirnak bring the total number of PKK fatalities in those two districts since operations began on March 14 to 624.
Several weapons were seized during the operations, the statement added.
Meanwhile, an escapee from a PKK camp in northern Iraq surrendered to Turkish security forces on Tuesday in Silopi district, Sirnak.
The military also confirmed that two security force members were wounded Wednesday in an operation to capture PKK suspects in Varto, Mus province. One later died from his injuries at Mus State Hospital.
PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Since then, more than 430 members of the security forces have been martyred and more than 3,800 PKK terrorists killed.
