Turkey’s Supreme Election Board has announced late Saturday the country’s national parliament elections calendar on June 7.

The election agency said 31 political parties vying for the parliament’s 550 seats will take part in the general elections.

According to the agency’s calendar, the parliamentary elections will begin on March 10. The list of candidates will be announced on April 24.

Balloting abroad will begin on May 8.

Turkey had held general elections every five years until a 2007 constitutional change which set elections every four years.

In the last general election held in 2011, the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party received almost 50 percent of the votes.

The AK Party, which has been in power for more than a decade in Turkey, has been victorious in last year’s March local election and its leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed the presidential election in August 2014.
