Istanbul: 2 police officers found dead

ISTANBUL

Two police officers were found dead and a third in critical condition in Istanbul Friday afternoon.

Police said they had begun looking for the three policemen when they failed to show up for work Friday morning.

The missing officers were found in a home in Istanbul’s Kucukcekmece district on the city’s European side, police sources said.

According to police, there was no trace of assault or wounds on their bodies. Police believe that the cause of death may have been gas poisoning.

The two dead officers, Resul Kasap and Cagri Ozan Tatar, worked in Bahcelievler and Gungoren district police department, respectively.

Semih Misirlioglu, who is in critical condition, belongs to Istanbul's public security branch.

It is unclear whether the three police officers lived together.
