The suicide bomber who claimed the lives of four people on Saturday on Istanbul’s Istiklal Street has been identified as Turkish national Mehmet Ozturk, DNA tests revealed on Sunday.
According to a police forensics report, the bomber was identified using a blood sample from his family.
The explosion killed five people, including Ozturk himself, and injured 39 others.
About claims the suicide bomber was a member of Daesh, Istanbul’s governor said Sunday the investigation is still ongoing and it is too early to make such a claim.
