KIRSEHIR, Turkey
The death toll from a deadly bus accident in Turkey has risen to eight, local sources said on Monday.
At least 26 people suffered injuries when the passenger bus overturned due to heavy snow in the central Anatolian province of Kirsehir earlier on Monday.
According to initial reports, the bus was en route to Ankara when the accident took place near Kaman district.
The injured were taken to Ahi Evran University Hospital.
Speaking to reporters, Kirsehir Governor Necati Senturk said that three of the injured were in a critical condition.
One injured passenger, Sakir Ipek, said the accident felt like an “earthquake”.
“I was sitting next to my mother and stirring her tea, [then] something happened like an earthquake.
“We were driving on the right side of the double-lane road. I was looking for my mother on the floor. Three or four people were lying there. I believe they were dead," he added.
