HAKKARI, Turkey
At least one Turkish soldier was martyred and six others wounded in an attack by PKK terrorist group in southeastern Hakkari province Tuesday, a military source said.
The incident took place when the terrorists opened fire on a vehicle of security forces on Hakkari-Cukurca Highway, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, told Anadolu Agency.
The injured soldiers were taken to Hakkari State Hospital.
Security forces in both regions launched an immediate hunt for the terrorists.
More than 1,200 victims, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
