A Turkish soldier fell martyr and another one got injured in a PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Hakkari province late Sunday, unnamed security sources said.
According to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, PKK terrorists had attacked the Daglica military base.
A broad operation in the region was later launched to neutralize the terrorists, they added.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 5,000 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
