PKK uses roadside bomb to hit soldier's family in Sirnak province, kills father and wounds brother-in-law
Ankara
SIRNAK, Turkey
The PKK terrorist group targeted a Turkish soldier’s family with a roadside bomb in southeastern Sirnak province's Uludere district on Saturday, killing his father and seriously injuring his brother-in-law, a military source said.
The family members were visiting the soldier who was serving at the Kuresin military base in the Andac village of the district, a source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
The soldier’s father, Huseyin Kelleci, had succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.
An operation was underway to nab the terrorists.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 300 civilians and nearly 800 security personnel have been martyred. Around 8,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
