GAZIANTEP, Turkey

A train carrying 22 Syria-bound armored personnel carriers and soldiers from across Turkey pulled into the southeastern province of Gaziantep Monday -- along Turkey's border with Syria -- according to a military source.

Military vehicles and personnel are headed towards the Syrian border by land, the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, told Anadolu Agency.

The source said that the vehicles will be used in the current Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, close on the heels of last week’s liberation of the key city of Al-Bab.

Security forces have taken precautions at both the station and along the train’s route.

The Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border using Free Syrian Army fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets.
