Turkey’s Red Crescent aid organization, Kizilay, is planning to reach millions of people across the world with food aid during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, the agency said Sunday.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency in southern Mersin province, Kerem Kinik, the president of the Turkish Red Crescent aid organization said, the priority is the Eastern Africa and famine-hit Yemen.

“Especially in the Eastern Africa and Yemen, there are nearly nine million people in dire need of assistance due to drought and hunger," Kinik said.

“We are planning to have Ramadan events in 19 countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as some other countries in Asia, Europe and Africa," he added.

The Turkish Red Crescent is the largest humanitarian organization in Turkey.
