Syria: Five killed, 15 injured in barrel bomb attack

ALEPPO, Syria
Five people have been killed and 15 others have been injured in a barrel bomb attack allegedly carried out by Bashar al-Assad regime forces in Aleppo’s Maadi district, a civil defense official said Friday.
"The civil defense squad also pulled out a number of injured people from several collapsed settlements in the airstrikes," a civil defense official told Anadolu Agency.
Turkey has for some time urged establishing a no-fly zone to keep Syrian military aircraft from attacking, but the President Barack Obama-led U.S. administration has been reluctant to pursue the strategy.
Turkey shares a 900-kilometer long border with Syria and has sheltered more than 1.7 million Syrians, according to the UN.
According to government figures, Turkey has spent more than $6 billion so far on the refugees while the international community's help has amounted to only $300 million.
