Swiss police on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with a chainsaw attack which left three people injured on Monday.

Police said 51-year-old Franz Wrousis was detained about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the northern town of Schaffhausen where the attack took place.

No further details were immediately available, but police earlier ruled out terrorism as a motive.

Wrousis, who suffers from a schizophrenic disorder, has two previous convictions for infractions of Swiss weapons laws, the authorities said on Monday.

Monday's attacker entered an office building in a suburban area of Schaffhausen, reportedly targeting the offices of a health insurance company.

He was a client of the firm, the local branch of which he attacked on Monday, police said.

The attacker injured three people, one seriously. Two other people were also treated for shock.
